Sarah is quite beautiful and much thinner in person than on TV. Andrea and I arrived at Shippensburg University with Carmen and Bob Zimbicki, and Mrs. Cohick (Carmen's mom) before 1:00 PM. Yvonne Shoop joined our group. We waited outside in the wind and cold until almost about 2:45 PM until we made it inside the building and went through the secret service search. I had to throw out two small umbrellas in my purse and unopened water bottles. But that was nothing. I was just glad they left me keep Andrea. It was a close call!! You can not imagine the line to see her. We were fairly close to the front. The line went from Heiges field house, wrapped around the Luhr's center, past the baseball field and out around the football stadium. Some people had to watch the event on a screen in the Luhr Center. Andrea saw several people she knew, including someone protesting. Of course, she had to be a traitor and walk over to them. But she came back to the right side!!
At the Sarah Palin rally at Shippensburg University. Go McCain/Palin on Nov 4th. Andrea is a confused Obama supporter. I brought her along to help clear her mind. I would have been better off to make her go to the three classes she had to miss. Her mind was still confused after the event. Thanks to Yvonne (front row black coat) we got excellent seats on the risers behind Palin. Carmen's mom is the cutie beside Yvonne. We are always so glad that she hangs out with us!!
Jeff Gordon speaking at Dupont Hospitality event in the old NASCAR garage at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He's my driver!!!! I just wish he would have brought his baby girl Ella to the event. Thanks to Pat and LaDonna for taking us to the hospitality tent. It's worth all the abuse I get about Jeff being my driver. I also like seeing Pat with all the Jeff Gordon memorabilia!! I know he is a secret admirer.
Pat, LaDonna and I went into the NASCAR garage on Sunday before the race started. Wade, being the oldest of the group, was not fast enough to get into the garage. I won't elaborate on why he needed to be faster. This is a picture inside the garage. Ryan Newman's car is still in the garage. The other cars in this photo were in the inspection lines before the race. Wade went back to the Dupont hospitality tent while we were in the garage. He was anxiously awaiting Jeff Gordon's arrival!!!!
Pat, LaDonna, Wade and I at Atlanta. We had a wonderful weekend!! We enjoyed the live band at our campground. It was so bad that we couldn't help but laugh. The woman in the band said she was Janis Joplin's daughter. I'm pretty sure that was not true. We all assumed she worked hard, because she always had a shop towel half hanging out of her back pocket. The oldest gentleman in the band was the best on the bass. They played as a band on Saturday night, but Friday night they just had music playing. It played loud enough and long enough into the morning that the police had to help them decide it was time to get some sleep. The best part of going to NASCAR races is watching all the people and we never ceased to be entertained!!
Wade and I at Atlanta Motor Speedway for NASCAR race. This was our first time to Atlanta and the facility was really first class. We met Wade's brother and his wife, Pat and LaDonna, there. They live in Missouri. We camped on the same site as the vendors. Pat and LaDonna arrived in Atlanta on Thursday. Wade and I didn't arrive until Friday late afternoon. It rained on Friday there and qualifying was rained out. We got one of our jacks stuck in the mud and Wade had to dig it out. The same thing happened to us the previous weekend at Martinsville Speedway but it was worse there. We had two jacks stuck and it took Wade awhile to get them dug out. In the process he knocked off one of the feet on the hydralic jacks and that was a little bit of a deal to get back on. Back at Atlanta, we had to move our motorhome around to get satellite service. Wade does not like to camp without his TV!!
Andrea (blue #13) playing field hockey for Mercersburg Academy Varsity team. Andrea had a great season. She had one game where she made 3 goals in the game. She made the Public Opinion honor roll for athletes. After some effort, I finally captured a goal on video. She doesn't like me to video games because it makes her nervous. She played mostly defense for the Mercersburg Academy Varsity team since 9th grade. This is the first year she played offense.
We went to Kill Devil Hills in NC for my step-daughter, Jessica's, wedding on the weekend of October 5th, 2008. Courtney and Neal came to Kill Devil Hills from college at UNC in Asheville for the weekend. They couldn't stay for the wedding because it was Sunday night and they had college classes they couldn't miss on Monday and it was a 8 1/2 hour drive back to Asheville for them. However, they had a wonderful time and were able to attend the rehearsal dinner. This is a photo of Courtney at the beach where we parked our motorhome for the weekend. Courtney, Andrea and Neal stayed in the motorhome with Wade an I. The weather was great and the kids swam in the ocean.
