Day 15 Gallup NM to Flagstaff AZ

I can not begin to tell you how many cattle guards Wade and I have traveled over on this journey. I can say we have been over more cattle guards than we have seen cows if that gives you an idea.

The road from Gallup into Arizona was beautiful. However as soon as we hit the Arizona line, they had put fresh oil down on the road. That is never a good thing when you are on a motorcycle.

The trains are non stop out here.  They are moving a lot of freight. They are huge trains as well. Usually 3-4 engines in the front, sometimes two in the middle and then two at the back.

We had a lot of side trips today and the first was this National Park.

It was Beautiful!

Do you remember the Eagles song “Take It Easy”?  The second verse starts with “Now I’m a standin on the corner in Winslow Arizona “

Next side trip was the Meteor Crater.

Then after we got to Flagstaff we first headed north to this National Monument.

Then we headed south of Flagstaff through Oak Creek Canyon to Sedona. This was an unbelievable scenic route with a lot of switchbacks and amazing scenery. The road was narrow and busy so there wasn’t any safe places to pull off so we just rode the bikes and enjoyed the ride. The town of Sedona was very busy and reminded me of Vail or Aspen. Then we headed back to Flagstaff for the night. We stopped at Olive Garden for a great meal and brought some wine back to the Hampton to finish the day. It was a long day with 365 miles on the bike.
