End of day 1

Made it through day one but it was a challenge. We got a much later start than we wanted because of the issue with our Sena’s discussed in the first post. Wade also downloaded a route from the Harley Road Planner to take us a little further south to stay out of the rain. However, it seriously wanted us to make a circle through developments and in towns and such. We ended up staying on Rt 30 past Pittsburgh, into West Virginia and into Ohio.

The weather was really hot and muggy.  It wasn’t bad when we were moving but all the traffic lights around Pittsburgh were grueling. We had a lunch/dinner under a tree as you can see from my picture. We realized we only had a short time before this really strong storm was coming.  We made  a reservation for a Hampton Inn about 35 miles away in Steubenville OH.  It was a beautiful ride to get there but the leading edge of the storm got to us about 4 miles from the hotel. We got a little wet but were blessed to get to the hotel just before the downpour started. We ended the day driving around 230 miles.  We are glad to get settled for the night and feel we had a successful day one overall.
