We left 29 Palms at 5:30 AM and headed back to Amboy CA to get on Rt 66. It was a great ride because it was around 75-80 degrees at that time of morning. Before we hit Barstow we took a little rest while these two trains crossed each other. I still am amazed at the amount of freight we saw going across America. The trains are moving constantly.
After Barstow we finally were getting out of the desert into the San Bernardino Mountains. We stopped for brunch in Victorville. From that point we had 75 miles of traffic lights until we reached the end of Rt 66 in Santa Monica. I am not exaggerating either. It took over 3 1/2 hours to go 75 miles. But honestly Father’s Day was a good day to get through Los Angeles. The traffic was reasonable.
We made it. We have ridden over 4000 miles on our motorcycles at this point. We both are feeling pretty proud of ourselves. This was a bucket list item for us.
I didn’t take a picture of our meal but we had the most amazing cod for dinner and celebrated with drinks and dessert. WE DID IT!
